Seems like we should drop the "making mountains out of molehills" portion of this thread and talk about the Tommy's burgers.

I have a 45-year history with Tommy's as my uncle lived within walking distance of their "mother" store (Beverly and Rampart) and I availed myself of the opportunity to eat there whenever I was in LA. It was one of my two favorite places - the other being Pink's for hotdogs

I have been to the Clairemont Mesa Blvd location several times - whenever my travels around San Diego took me into the area. I have also used this location to introduce friends to Tommy's.

When I get the chance to go by Playas, I will definitely drop in. BTW, there was a burger stand in Provo, Utah that was run by an ex-Tommy's employee who did a credible job with his own version of Tommy's chili. Close, but not exact.

Who cares where he gets his chili or if he has Saint Tommy's blessing to be an authorized franchise or if he is just using a recipe he got from his grandmother?

What really matters in the end is whether they are good enough to make you want to tell friends and come back for more.

OH my GOD! U GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! Tommy's in TJ, thats the best news ever!! i hope that this is NOT and old post and they are already out of bussines...

I dont care about there expensive faxes,who in there right mind sends a fax from a burger join? i care about the food.

Theres several Tommy's in California but the original is in Downtown L.A. on Beverly ,but i use to go to the Santa Monica location which was closer to my house ,i use to love going there, Tommy's is a unique MESSY burger with fresh pickles and onions and its great tasting chili that scores high in my list.

My favorite hamburger joint in the Los Angeles area is L.A. BURGER in West Los Angeles on pico boulevard really good stuff with lots of famous customers and great reviews from the L.A. times and food aficionados also another favorite use to be PINK´S great HOT DOGS and burgers but you have to wait in line it doesn't matter if its 3.30am is always full!

I consider my self a hamburger aficionado and connoisseur and after several places in TJ i think i found a great hamburger place,its next to the railroad tracks ,wen the Blvd. Paseo de los heroes turns in to the Benitez Blvd. its next to a school its called BEVERLY BURGER which the name attracted my attention since i use to go to eat in a place with the same name in Beverly Hills CA, but this place is just a little hamburger hut next to the road but do NOT commit the sin of judging this place by its humble look,its always packed a good indicator of good local food, and they only use fresh ingredients to make there hamburgers and fries,often sometimes you go to a place and find out that they have good burgers but not so good fries well to my surprise this place has great tasting fries.

If you go there try there onion rings there really good,i love to eat there and wash it down with a ice cold Mexican Coca Cola in a glass bottle! which we all know it just tastes better then gringo coke because is made with sugar cane and NOT corn syrup and the glass bottle makes it feel old fashion.

I hope to see you guys in playas I'm going there tomorrow to see if i can find this place,i hope the owner dosent kick me out we i tell him i know about him because of tijuanablog...lol

I know this an old post, that hasn't been updated in some time, but here goes(BTW - I was gone for an extended period because of a dire family problem) The ORIGINAL TOMMY'S is located on the NE corner of Beverly and Rampart.. They bought a restaurant on the NW corner of the same intersection, so you can park for free in either area. Usually the NW corner is half full when Tommys is busiest. Taco Bell, believe it or not, is diagonally across the street, and they do good business!! Every restaurant has its secret item on the menu board, and the secret menu item item at Tommys was the Chili Boat, which is just chili, but you get Tomato, onions, and pickles with cheese costing extra. Sadly, they now list that item too. I tried to get them to prepare me a "protein style" burger, but they just laughed(Protein style is available at In & Out, and yes its not on the menu board - they use lettuce instead of bread for you Atkins dieters). You can get all the bananna peppers you want for free. I grew up a few blocks from another L.A. institution - Pinks, so I have always had a deep interest in this kind of fast food cuisine.
