Jim:
Why are you butting in on my jesting message to ANOTHER blogger and why are you calling me names? (Cursing here is not allowed; I am pretty sure) Sticks and stones..............
Taking a time out would be good and don't come out of your room until you learn to play well with others and your allowance is being cut.

Anyone know of a wine shop in TJ?
Are SmartnFinal and Costco my best options? Just curious. Thank you all again!

On 11th (?I think) close to Sanchez Toboada, north side of the street there is a big warehouse store named "Bodega de la Playa". It is an all wine and liquor store with discount prices.
Note: In Mexican Spanish it is common to use the word "vino" for any kind of liquor. To be more specific you need to say "vino de uba" or "vino tinto".

Don't know of any wine bars down here.
As I mentioned Leys stinks for wine selection; hoping to find that Mom and Pop Liquour store open next trip and see if they have a better selection.
Seems like Costco or Smart/Final may be best bet.

Think about that for a second or two. When you do, you will see I have a point.
I am familiar with Baja's wines because a friend of mine used to work in the industry and whenever I am having a Mexican dinner, I try different wines. In my family, my niece would be the "snob" being as her tatstes were good enough, she used to work with Trader Joe's on their wine buying. In fact, I find a two buck Chuck is more than adequate for sipping on while computing. So much for wine snobbery.
If I am a snob of any kind, it would be about coffee where I do have more than a basic knowledge. Perhaps, when the timing is good, I'll bring some in for a coffee meeting. We did one in Ensenada a couple years back. Hard to do, but doable.

!Saludos a todos!
Yesterday, after eating at this Greek place we like, Dimitri's, I found a wine bar! -- one which carries an ample selection of Baja wines, including ones suggested by sunni_olsen and JimLane. It's called:
Pan e Vino
address: Blvd. Aqua Caliente 3400-14AR, Centro Comercial Rocasa
Tel. 686-49-86
It's located in Fracc. Aviacion, in a complex which also houses the Italian restaurant Italianissimo. The complex/strip mall sits on the eastbound fork of Aqua Caliente, right past the Super Gigante and before you get to Grand Hotel.

We've been trying to find Greek restaurants ... where is Dimitri's? Thanks!

We've been there both for lunch and dinner, and we like what we've ordered. The proprietor is a really nice and friendly guy, too.
To get there, just follow the same directions I gave above for Pan e Vino Osteria. Dimitri's is in the same complex, as well as a Japanese restaurant, a paella joint, a French patisserie, a liquor store, Italianissimo, etc.

There are a lot of them near my work in San Diego. But it's an hour drive at best and the food loses something when reheated. California Buffet in Plaza Rio was offering an Indian buffet but every time I've been there the food of any sort has been so bad that I won't bother trying it.

If you want to PM (Private Message) someone, you click on the PM icon and only you and that person can read the message; if you just want to converse/banter/jest in an open forum, then you do that here so everyone can read. Hope I have been of help to un-befuddle you. If you need more help let me know.
PS: BTW life is too short to take one's self too seriously. Be HAPPY! :-)
Alicia;
Thanks for the great info and the sagely advice words of wisdom too.

SOmeone haviong abirthday posted.
Me: Try finding wines that compliment your meal.
You on Feb 27:
What a novel concept; eat food and drinks that go together...........
But yet I still puzzle over should I drink Italian or Hawaiian wine with my pineapple/ham pizza??? And what about my Belgium waffles; where can you find Belgium wines ? Much less English wines for the Beef Wellington?
Me on Feb 27:
So as not to tax your mind, try beer with pizza. It works with all flavors and would spare you the decision of which white to have with your seafood pizza and so on.

Me on March 1:
This is an open forum and there is no such thing as private message in an open forum. Every post is available to anyone. Being as you did not QUOTE who you were replying to, I can make the case that, as it followed my advice on the birthday, it was a reply to me.
Think about that for a second or two. When you do, you will see I have a point.

NOW, show me where you clearly indicated you were replying to someone else with the first comment above. It does not exist, rich, except in the recesses of your mind. YOU are the one that said I had butted into your reply to someone else. Who? As I said, your reply could as well been to me as to anyone else because you posted into an open forum.
Light going on yet?

I agree, Rich.
I hope our friend, Mr. Lane, will take your sagacious advice to heart and refrain from objurgating his fellow tijuanense-americanos with such regularity. I suspect he may have been nipping at the cooking sherry (a superior vintage, no doubt) when he hurled those invectives your way.

Ah yes, I think we've been there. There is a Thai restaurant there as well? (Which I do not recommend - they don't have pad thai?!) We'll check it out. Thanks!

Thanks. Yea, I gave up on him too as I think you did and his self-serving rantings when I realized he was not mature enough to even apologize for cursing at a fellow blogger.
I think that old adage applies. "Better to be quiet and let some think you a fool than to open your mouth and prove you are to all?"
You think he'll rant on about that for the next week?
Be Happy! :-)

BTW, for the dictionary-challenged, there is a big difference between "acting the ass" and cursing. Of course, it is a nuance that requires some advanced use of English. My assumption was that you would be able to undertand the difference. Apparently, I overestimated your abilities.
Rants? Your . . . Nah, that appears to be a done deal.
