HK70,

Yes all this week the 7 lines have been open, and have been a breeze every single day so far. Hopefully it keeps that way...

I will put this here not sure where else to post it.

Spent some time with my ex novia Friday night. Her ex baby daddy got her a car a few weeks ago so she could get around town and meet him so he can see the kid. When she told me about this a week or so ago all I could think of was how long before the car would be stolen or was in an accident. So Friday night she told me that earlier in the week she was in the car with her 4 year old girl, her prima and the prima's novio was driving her car. He got them in accident smashing the front end and breaking the front windshield and driver side windows. Everyone was ok but they are sore from whiplash.

So Saturday night around 9:30pm I was walking on the sidewalk along the via rapida to go to plaza rio. I hear screeching of tires and look over as a SUV smashes into a light pole knocking it down and spinning the car around 3 or 4 times. A couple people ran to the car to help the person out. Really freaked me out and I immediatley thought about the ex novia and her car crash. I would guess the guy saturday night was drunk or fell asleep since no other car was involved.

Whatever you do don't drink and drive, it is not worth it.

It's Cinco de Mayo tomorrow. I plan to enter Tijuana at around 8 a.m. and get some good food (tortillas, stuff from panaderias, etc.) and be back in USA by 3 p.m.

Does anybody know if border wait will be much worse on 5 de Mayo?

Not sure about traffic today.

Last night around 6pm only 6 lanes open going into TJ. They had the far left lane closed for some reason and yes there was a long line of cars waiting to get into TJ.

Should have stated a new thread. The amount of traffic accidents in TJ seems alarming. I would like to see some numbers regarding the rate of accidents per peson.

Back on topic:

I doubt there will be much change in traffic due to 5demayo. It's not widely celebrated in Mexico.

Wow....................ped line was really backed up this morning when I crossed around 7am. The line started back at Y where you enter the Sentri car lane. I bet it was at least 1 1/2 hour wait to cross if not more. What is going on today maybe pay day or people going to shop for mothers day.

HK,

Yes the line was long today for the sentri lane as well at 5am. Usually there is about 10 cars at that time, sometimes none. But today at 5am there were about 90 cars. It took me 30 mins. to cross. The normal lane wait wat about 1hr & 40mins. Thats what i heard on the radio. Could be because it is payday, or for mothers day..... blink.gif

Finally got my car back after being in the shop for over a month. Crossed the car via Sentri on Saturday 11:50am and it took 20 minutes. I returned to TJ around 4pm and it was only a few minutes to cross back over.

Did you bring back any dairy products from the states? I noticed also that with milk, when it says it expires on may 9, "IT EXPIRES MAY 9TH". I tried to have some frosted flakes this morning and all that came out of the jug were clumps..... sad.gif

In the states expired milk usually last what 2-3 more days?

The ped line seemed long at SY this morning. Car traffic seemed light. I was sent to a sort of express secondary where they lines up about six of us and the dog made a lap around and then agents came to every car and gave it a once over.

Yes you are correct. I got the call Friday morning the car was finally fixed so I picked up my car at lunch time then went back to work. After work I parked the car at Iris trolley stop and took the trolley to the border. I crossed back over 9pm Friday night to get the car and I went to Target & Vons. I bought milk, yogurt etc. Thursday I got the car renewal form in the mail with a required smog check. I was not even sure I would get my car back and I had thoughts of buying a used car but car seems to be all fixed. Saturday I got the $62 smog check, went to Costco and then to my storage unit to pick up a few things for my trip to Chicago in a few weeks. My fridge is stocked for at least a few weeks.

Vacation. I have not been back since I moved to SD about 5 1/2 years ago. My parents are getting old and I now have 3 weeks of vacation at work so I can burn a week with the family and still have 2 weeks to play.

Cool. Always good to see the family, before you know it (not to make it sound bad) they are no longer with us. So enjoy it while they are here.

Nope.... we crossed SY sunday morning at around 9:15 AM after landing at the TJ Airport. The wifey crossed thru the car SENTRI lane and I crossed on foot (I don't have SENTRI) .... took me about 5 minutes and she was already waiting for me at Jack in The Crack in San Ysidro.

I crossed the border Saturday 11am via car Sentri and it was 20 minutes.

I crossed Sunday morning 6:15am via car Sentri and there was no wait. It was funny becuase there were no cars ahead of me and I was not sure which booth was open. I made the wrong guess and I had to reverse and choose another one and I picked the right one the second time.

I crossed this morning on foot 7am and there was no long line of people. Once inside the building there was a line for the non Sentri peds.
