WHAT!?!?! Lucky’s didn’t make either list???
Only beer that I could afford once when out of a job, but, at least, the puzzles on the bottom of the bottle caps took your mind off how bad the beer was...
What I do miss tho is Balantine’s Ale and Genesee Cream Ale(upstate New York); much more like German/English beers; they had both in San Diego for a short time; ales are not big anymore...
Any ales in Mexico?

After hearing all this talk about TJ beer I had to go buy some. I bought a six pack at a liquor store in Bonita. That has to be one of the worst beers I have ever tried! I can tell you right now that stuff is gonna end up in "Big Lots" or similar stores. I gave the other 5 beers to my daughter in law who drinks like a fish. I am waiting her opinion.

We are probably going to drive this point to oblivion but like I said, beer tastes vary and the fact that it remains a product for sale on shelves, there must be somebody who likes it - otherwise it would quickly disappear. As a point of clarification, I am not a fan of TJ beer either but I learned long ago that what is one mans urinal water is another's sweet ale. (no harm intended sdc!)
At a dinner in Mexico City with friends at a high end restaurant a few years back the host ordered a bottle of French wine off the first page of the wine list at just a click over 9,000 pesos for the bottle. I have tasted $5.00 bottles of wine from Von's that tasted better IMHO. Some at the table raved about how wonderful the wine was while I noticed others who shared my reaction by the quick glances and silent smiles.
It's like liver. How can some people love to eat that vile cow organ befuddles me although I am sure that some here will quickly jump in to say how much they love it.

Ordering beer isnt as easy as it use to be. These micro breweries have complicated things. They have made the selection to large, its honey beer, wheat ale, oganic lager, etc. It was a lot easier when it was a bud or a coors.
Liver is supposed to the most vitamin enriched piece of meat there is. My most memorable liver memory was I when I was staying at my relatives ranch in mexico and my aunt told me we were having liver for breakfast. It turned out to be calfs liver freshly butchered. It was the best cut of meat I have ever had.

Personally I cannot stomach liver - although it is vitamin rich. It is also "rich" in everything else as well. The liver is what filters all the crap out of your blood which is why it turns black over time, like a dirty filter. Bile is not a pleasant smelling or tasting item on the menu for me - no thank you...
But those are my taste buds - different just like in beer.

And which six-pack was that?
TJ beer, but which one?
BTW, there is a BIG difference in getting it at the brewery and then getting the export beer here in the US that may have become "skunked," or had something else happen to affect the flavor - like sitting on the dock in the sun too long.
Of course, if your standard is a Corona-type beer, any real beer would taste bad - all too strong. Some people do not like the hoppiness in Bohemia, others like the hoppiness. Some people like the floralness of Belgium beers, others detest the flavor.
It would help us to know what flavor element bothered you, if you can identify it.
I like Tijuana Beer's unfiltered dark - but that is not exported, only the filtered version makes its way here.

Ok folks, did go and try this place out. It was still open. I went during day hours so a little slow about 4 other groups of 2. Music in background was quiet not too loud for those bothered by loud music. Chips and salsa are excellent, the food was good, I had the Baja Salmon plate my Wife had the arrachera plate (waiter recommended it). Not the best by certainly not the worst. Portions were descent not too big so you don't feel that bloated and or leaves you more room for the beer which leads me to the beer. Well first let me say with all I had read here I didn't know what to expect so I went with open mind. Im a fan of microbrewed beer, when I lived in Seattle I enjoyed full sail beer. I've also liked the Bj's in OC and Alcatraz block of orange, I also enjoyed the beers of squatters pub and brew and wasatch brew and pub both of Salt lake city, also fat tire and so on...Well at Tijuana brew they had six choices:
1. Light - Lager type beer it was ok.
2. Bronca - Unfiltered beer. It was also descent.
3. Brava - I beleive its the filtered version of the above.
4. Guerra - Or blonde, this one was good, my girl enjoyed this one the best.
5. Morena - Dark beer, excellent in my amateur experiance, I really enjoyed this. Similar to bohemia obscura.
6. Bufadora - Newest one (according to waiter) This one was a Pale Ale type of beer. Also an excellent brew, similar to Sierra Nevada. The higher hopps flavor is an acquired taste and I don't see many Mexicans liking this, but it's great.
So to recap my personal preference was Morena, Bufadora, Guerra, Bronca, Brava and light. In that order. We enjoyed the beer enough to buy two growlers one with guerra and the other morena. I'll try to attach some pics here. The growlers were $300pesos with beer each, $70pesos to fill again. Also there is no parking you have to park on the street, of which there's alot of space on the front. Oh and on Th, Fri, & Sat eve's they have live band, and upstairs they have karaoke according to waiter.
P.S. I can't seem to upload any pic's. hmmmm..........
