I would not risk my life riding a motorcycle on the freeways of San Diego nor even think about riding one in TJ. Between the pot holes, debris in the road and crazy drivers...

My game is going to be use the 36V e-bike to cross the border, go to Otay Crossing self storage and trade out the e-bike for the new 2007 suzuki Burgman. It is a feet forward automatic transmission with a kevar belt. Yet they got the power to do 100 mph. Certainly not planning that, but want the reserve power to get out of the way or quickly pass a simi in a nasty wind.

The 2007 is a pretty serious re-design of an already pretty slick design. The seat has a ton of storage.

Interesting that Otay has not removed the bike lane sign as of tonight.

Andy... Like I said... It's a personal choice... I feel the gain outweighs the risk, so I choose to ride.

Chiq... not much you can do about a freak accident, I can't live my life worrying about things out of my control... if I did, I would never leave the house. Nor would my house be in Tijuana for that matter.

I'll do everything I can to be safe, but when my time is up... it's up.

the people driving across the border are very rude and drive crazily. more than once, small fender benders occur because someone doesnt want you to cut in front of them.
and they tail gate so closely and end up hitting the car in front of them.

tjdave, do you run into any crazies while crossing the border?
I like to eat!

Not usually because I enter via the SENTRI lane and cut over into the regular lanes near the yellow lane divider posts.

I can confirm for sure that Otay still has the bike lane and it is being used the way it was intended.
