I moved my entire household across the border and later helped a friend do the same. We found the best way was to just move it one pickup load at a time and it seems that the best time is Mon-Fri between 4:00 and 6:00 when the border gets backed up a bit getting back into Mexico. In all of the trips we made we were never even stopped once. We brought across refrigerators, living room furniture, dining sets, bedroom sets, big screen TV's, patio furniture, bikes, desks, etc and were never even looked at twice when blended in with the heavy traffic.

HI Sandra

Ok I called rent for less and they said the truck is $39.99?
on pacific highway?
And its illegal to take a truck through the border but they dont mind?
so he suggested a cargo van is legal , but all my stuff isnt gna fit.

So should I get the 17'truck and drive through Otay, and fm3 papers?
I didnt quite understand what was needed with the FM3 allowance.

k thanks

my wife owns a house here, So houseing was no problem, and her hole family lives in town,

Getting my stuff here was a pain, ( I had to Make 8 trips to storage) i didnt have the money to rent a private truck to help move my stuff across the border Uhaul and most rental companies consider it theft to take their eqiupment to mexico even just for a day. However using my Jeep Cherokee and son in laws pick up was no problem no customs fees or anything, they just asked were i was going and looked to make sure there was no Firearms and i was on my way.

The Comute to work is not good, I take the otay mesa crossing and at 5:00 am can look forward to 1 to 1.5 hours in line. If i get there at 4:30 i can cut that down to about 45 minutes to a hour.

Most Drivers at the Crossings will not let you in to a lane to save their lives, But are very quick to cut you off. So you need to drive aggressivly.

Other things to think about, People run red lights and stop signs, espeaicly buses so becarfule driving here.

I commute across San Ysidro every day and would much rather deal with the border crossing, a known factor, than the freeways on the other side. My crossing takes about 45 minutes on average. I sit and listen to talk radio, and sip my home brewed Starbucks out of my spill proof mug. The drivers in the line aren´t as bad as the ones trying to get in from side streets on that last two block stretch of Benito Juarez. I take the local road from the Playas and make sure I´m in the second lane from the left once I hit¨town.
