Regardless of where it was invented, there were pizza shops all over the place in Venice and Rome in July, 2005.

But just one more question for Chiquito, Italy 2005; was it American type pizza as we know it ( a meal in itself) or the traditional Italian appetizer type?

Big, whole pizzas, or by the slice. American style I guess, mainly thin crust, lots of creative toppings.

No offense to anyone, we all have our own tastes(or lack of), but Mama Mia's pizza is one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. Hardly any sauce, which is the main ingredient to any pizza, and they leave 2-3" of dry bread around the outside edge. I haven't seen anyone mention Togginos, it doesn't compare to some of the pizzas I've had in the U.S. but it's by far the best pizza I've found south of the border. Now I've gone and made myself hungry and I'm on a dang diet.....

If you do, you are welcome to what's left of the second MaMa Mia pizza in my freezer from two weeks ago...

That's a good question, I have no idea where it is. My wife always calls them to have it delivered, we live in colonia aeropuerto. I'll ask my wife where it is and I'll post the location and their phone number.

There are somthing like 8 or 10 Toogino's pizza shops throughout Tijuana. Closest one to Playas is in Soler.

This is the lowest cost 'chain' Pizza in TJ. They have 2 for 1 pizza's every day. You can get two personal size pizza's with several toppings for under $5. What is even more amazing is that they will deliver these 2 $5 pizza's for free !

Pizza flavor is average. I prefer Papa John's but unfortunately there are only 2 Papa John's in Tijuna and none near Playas.

They should deport you back to the U.S. A couple of nights ago I ordered 2 medium pizzas from Toggino's, asked them to put heavy sauce, and they were as good as any pizza I've ever had(except the pizza in Lincoln, Nebraska) The total cost was $14 which included a $2 tip for the driver. You don't REALLY like Papa John's, do you??

Papa John's is better than Mama Mia and yes that garlic butter is great!
Had to make my own last time I ordered MaMa Mia; turned out pretty good but not as good as Papa John's.

If you make it down to ensenada, try Cafe Pueblo - on the same street as Papas & Beer, but (facing the street) to your left.

If money is an issue, sometimes the Domino's in Mexico City near UNAM would let go of their undeliverable pizzas ( ordered by flaky customers ) for about 2 bucks per pie. I imagine Tijuana would be no different - ask a delivery person.

mama mias is surprisingly good pizza. and a good price, too.
they always seem to have two for one coupons also.

I will take MaMaMias over papa johns anytime(and I lived in the dorm with the guy who owns papa johns at ball state). MaMaMias is the closest thing you will get to American Pizza(yes pizza is an American food).

Vittorios is very moderately priced and I ate their twice this last week in addition to having the Tueday 2x1 special on large pizzas.

It costs a quarter million Dollars (not pesos) to open a Papa Johns, maybe the blog team can approach your fellow accomplished Alumnae, to open one up on our terms. Lets get Milky in on this one. :twisted:

Milky, if the problem is counting, then maybe we can open a Kumon franchise- its only 10,000-12,000 dollars, and help Ryu get enough for that hot dog you've been promised. After all, the kids they teach get ahead by using their fingers, and not knocking on wood. :twisted:

...........but DOMINOS is soooo grosssss I get sick thinking about it!

My kid loves the lasagna @ Flauti Pizza. $5!....but the pizza is just 'OK'
