About 15 years ago I had a business recycling food grade containers. I had a 250 gallon water container that I sold whenever I could get them across the border. This friend who knew tijuana told me of a place where the goverment was giving away free property you just had to build on it. Thinking back it seemed like this area was on the eastern side of tijuana as you could see part of otay on the US side. This new community was set in dirt and the squatters living there were building homes out of anything they could get there hands on. Whole families were living in shacks with a hole in the ground for a toilet. A shed from home depot would have been a mansion there. The thought that always comes to mind when I think back to that place is the people buying the new homes in otay US, living comfortably, have no idea that just a few miles south of them families were living in dirt shacks with no running water, ac, heat, etc

Talking about places to live, if your walking and cross the bridge into tj you can see all these people going in and out of the drainage pipes. What the hell is that all about! I take it they reside in these pipes next to shit river? Gives me the creeps thinking about it

good lord man, the river is so disgusting. It could be nice if the city would do something about it.... Yeah if the government wasnt broke,they could kick some money down to the city, maybe they could renevate the river,make it a nice waterfront....like portland's waterfront.if they actually had money. Im pretty sure its full of every strain of hepatitis ever....yeah, it just disgusts me...the river is definately the worst part of tj.

As long as people use outhouses its a lost cause. When it rains they over flow or get washed away and come down the hill sides.
