Try this website: http://www.lalineaen...om/default.aspx

Basic registration is free and while it is a little busy to navigate, once you're logged in you can immediately decide whether the Garita Otay or Garita San Ysidro is the better way to leave Mexico. I just don't know how updated the info is.

I've found the webcam for entering Tijuana at San Ysidro helpfull; I can see if there's a backup.

There's lots of websites offering info. on the border wait entering the US but little on entering Mexico

Scroll down to San Diego.

The furthest south on the 5 the video feed ever got was IH 5 @ Dairy Mart Road. Maybe there is a Via San Ysidro Camera but I haven't seen it.

Yesterday around 6:15pm I was walking on the ped bridge over 5 right above the SY crossing into TJ. It was wierd not seeing any cars crossing into TJ. The US agents had all the cars stopped and I could see agents walking among the cars backed up on 5. By the time I crossed over they started to let cars cross. I feel bad for those of you that have to sit in that line every day to get back to TJ blink.gif

If I have to do shopping in SD I try and cross at night after 8pm or so in my car. I needed to hit my storage unit in Otay so I crossed Saturday afternoon around 1pm and it took 15 minutes with Sentri. On my return around 4pm, I sat in a long line for 40+ minutes baking in my car to get back to TJ. For those of you that do this everyday you are crazy or love the stress.

Hey HK70,

That wait to get into TJ sucks.....Especially on payday fridays. It was 7pm last friday as i was approaching the border. The line was backed up all the way to San Ysidro exit. I got feed up, and starting thinking smarter. What i do now is carry a bike in my car. Luckily that friday, i had the bike with me. So i exited SY Blvd. Parked my car in the mall, put clubs on. Crossed the border in my bike. I live in colonia La Cacho, over by hotel sevilla. So it aint that far. I waited till nightime and went back to get my car. Line was clear. no problem.

i could of waited in line, but i not want to stress it. plus i got my workout.

but i think they are working on two lanes, so hopefully when they are done, everything should be back to normal......

i hope

Buen amigo..........good thinking about the bike. Yes when I crossed back over to TJ the two far left lanes were closed on Saturday and yes it appeared that they were doing some construction.

I just could not see myself sitting in my car everyday. I am luckly in that I can walk across and jump on the trolley to make it to work downtown SD.

I have not seen the ped line this bad for a Monday morning. At 7am the ped line was snaked all the back under the bridge to the fork in the road where you enter the Sentri car lane. It was the same thing when I crossed this past Saturday at 9am. Crazy................

Yeah, that was probably in part to the aftermath from CBP shooting that guy. I heard they closed a bunch of lanes.

It sucks so bad one of my friends says he going to pull his kids out of school in California and pay and school them here in TJ
If everyone would do that it would help some.
But who can blame someone for taking there kids to school in the Free Public school system.

LOL

Ped line was not yet as bad as yesterday at 7am but it appeared to be heading that way.

I feel sorry for those kids that have to stand in line for 1+ hours to go to school. But my understanding is they use a address of a family member to get enrolled in school in SD and just commute from TJ.

I personally do not understand the appeal of sitting in two to three hours of lines waiting to get in/out of TJ just to live in a cheap place. I think the amount of frusturation, stress and headaches of crossing the border everyday more than offsets a cheap house in my opinion.

^^^ i cross everyday. mon-fri. But i cross at 5am, in the sentri lane. Nobody there. So no big deal for me. But i live in TJ because of our situation on my wifes' visa. Not because it is cheap.

hmm you do realize that you in violation of the sentri rules right?
if they find out that you are married to someone without entry rights to the US, you will be immediately removed from the sentri program...

good luck

Crossed back to TJ on foot last night around 6pm. No traffic backup going into TJ. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. It is just seems odd when there is no backup going into TJ these days.

I got yelled at crossing the border this morning by the agent. If you cross via Sentri Ped you hug the left side when you walk thru the costums building. When you get close to the booth there is a sign that says left for bus and right for Sentri. About 5 people just got of the bus and started lining up in the Sentri lane. I said excuse me and got to the front. The agent tells me that Sentri and Bus riders have the same rights and I should have not cut to the front. I told him I was not aware of that and I had never heard that before. The bus riders seem to never form the line in their bus lane. I figured since I am paying for the Sentri and get the back ground check that I had the right to cut. I did not realize their was a detail back ground check for the bus riders unsure.gif Oh well it is never dull crossing the border.

LOL, always something new.

The other day, crossing the border in my car, in the sentri lane, same routine as everyday. I pull up to the first stop sign, car in front of me is at the second stop sign, and a car at the booth. I gues my car was a bit further than it was supposed to be, but the border agent actually got out of his booth, walked over to my car, and told me that i had to be behind the stop sign. I was like 6" past the stop sign, but oghhh wel what are you going to do?

I guess they have there bad days as well, but made me feel like i have been crossing the border for the past 2 years all in the wrong way.... huh.gif

Last night around 6pm there was no backup of cars trying to get into TJ. It appears that all 7 lanes to get into TJ are now open. The far 2 left lanes were under construction for awhile but have been open this week and maybe last week ( I don't remember last week). I hope the no lines keeps up for those that drive wink.gif
