We're just a small group but we try to help when we can. I think in your situtation you may want to rent short term where the landlord lives on site. I had a friend who lived near me and his landlord lived in the next building and he never had any problems even when he took a 8 week vacation he came back and his car and place were still there smile.gif

I personally don't like centro for living and Zona rio can be nice but big buck and too many bad elements around.

Then what area do you recomend???

There are some nice areas in the Hipodromo area you can find small places to rent for decent money and taxis are plentiful. Homes are expensive to rent but you can find sublets for good prices. La Mesa has some really good deals but again I would recommend something where the owner lives close by until you get situated in TJ.
I've been in Otay for years and there are 4 or 5 members on the board from here and its close to the border but very few to no gringos smile.gif I choose Otay because its walking distance to my job and close to the border and very few chollos and problems.
Tijuana is much more than Revolution ave

May I ask what kind of rent are you wanting to pay? There are a lot of nice places advertised all the time on craigslist and marina realty website.

Well, I live in Rosarito and I love it. Actually, there is a wonderful little house in the "compound" where I am that's for rent - $450. It's on craigslist, too.

Well , I would like to stay around/Under $300 - $350 a month... But remember, it can be in the "locals' area, that doesnt matter to me, as long as the neighborhood is somewhat safe and the home isnt a huge target...

I certainly a, considering Rosarito... BUT there are less ads online... BUT I am talking to a few people on criagslist, and OLX, but they are few and far between
! I actually think I would prefer Rosarito!

One I am looking into is located "Col. Reforma on Benito Juarez" 2 blocks form the beach.. does anyone know if thats an ok part of town???

THANKS

YES, but since I have no car, I am thinking a proximity to San Ysidro would be better.... because of the past 2 years,(coming there every 3 months for doctor, etc...) I have kindof arranged things on the US side to be convienent to San Ysidro and the trolly.... although I am NOT against Otay... I just don't know if it would be a good fit because of transportation.. At least in Rosarito, I could get to the SY border easyily.. NO???

I looked on Marina Realty site, and they have nice rentals, BUT too much money for me.... Not sure if the prices are high because its geared towards gringos, or what... Maybe I am best going around looking at signs....

Cute apartment. smile.gif

Furnished apartments are rare in Tijuana.

If the apartment is in good condition then its a probably good deal.

Well, I didnt trust the pictures she gave me, so I asked if a video could be done, and they did, so I see it still looks nice! I think there are 3 units in the building, and the building itself outside ( i drove past last week) looks ok, not run down, but not fancy..

I just asked if 350 was the bottom price, and Im waiting for the response... even if 350 is her final price I think with all utlities, etc, its worth it... ( I had to ask though)

Hey, if it is only for you i think that apartment is pretty cool. Comfortable, and has everything you need. And utilities included. Not bad at all....

Sounds great. I know how hard it is to find a place when you are relocating. It took me some time before I moved from Cabo. I was very lucky and found a place on Craigslist. I live in Rosarito and feel I got a great deal. Gated community, on beach, 2br 1 bh with deck looking at ocean for $450.00 month. I pay only for gas.. Good Luck on your find.......

I've lived in Rosarito and the rent is cheap now you can get really good deals down there. Gringos are moving out in flocks and I see for rent signs everywhere. If you can get a furnished place for 350 a month thats not bad as long as its in a decent area.

Hey.. whats up with this board.. No one is posting anything.. The vibe, and atmosphere is much better, nicer, and more civil than ANY other Baja board, so I am really disapointed that no one seems to be posting here?????

And yet on another thread this guy tells me to get lost, instructing me

There are other baja related boards in which that behaiver is better suited.. this is a civil board!

Damn! I'm not being civil enough to Mr Acapulco and yet I live two blocks from Defensores.

Let me put on my Gregory House face for a minute and say HMMM!

Escúchame bien, señorito Acapulco. Dis still Méjico aquí en Tijuas. If you want us to be respectful of you, you need to be respectful of us. Otherwise, like Mike says, this is a small community. Yes, there are about three millions of us in Tijuas by now but the gringos in town still don't amount to a hill of beans. Most are here only on suffrance. We still might put them up against a wall and shoot them. After all, you know the opposite of "Defensores" is "Invasores", right?

Si pretendes comportarte bien, pues bienvenido y no te ofendas, mano. Pero compórtate de todos modos. En México tus chicharrones no truenan; en Tijuas, aún menos. La amistad siempre vale más que el rugido.

X

Thank you so Much! I appriciate that!

I havent really done much sonce getting here.. Been over to the US a few times, to get stuff for the apartment, like pots and pans etc.. (Ross and Marshall's are the best for this)

Tried both the grocery stores that are closest... Both are Soriana Super's, and I and very DISPLEASED with them.. One is on the corner of Defensores de Baja, and Cauhutemoc, and the other is in Otay, across from the Municipal building for otay.. They are both Very small, and the selection is very bad!!! They are both about the same distance form me on the Blue and White Buses.... ((Does anyone know of a better one on the bus line?))

Since I am so high up, I get Awsome views of the city and, I am surpised at how big it is!!

Also, does anyone know what Waldo's would be easisit for me to get to on the bus? Preferbaly the Blue and White "Otay, linea, col. Postal" buses?? I know there is one right over there across from Plaza Rio, BUT I am not sure how to get thereon the bus... Maybe there is one in Otay??

Thanks

Coming back to TJ? I can understand the time and hassle in frequent trips. I did it from Mexico City for a year or so awhile back. It does get old - especially with all the additional travel restrictions/security, etc. My advice to you would be the same as before, come up and spend the time. is the bridge with Fernando burned permanently???
