Who do you get your Mexican auto insurance from?

Curious ( and with humor ) ; in the test taken at DMV /Baja ( whatever ) did you have to answer a question having to do with STOP SIGNS and what one is to do at a Stop Sign ?
My recall is that Nevada is a No Fault State for purposes of Financal Responsibility aka Liability insurance. Calif residents are un-accustomed with No Fault insurance rates . It is a " given " No Fault is ( what ) 25% to 40% less than what a Calif insured resident has projected into their budget as a out going expense .

No, Nevada is not a no-fault state. And my insurance was higher in Las Vegas, NV than San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Yes I agree I see cars all the time that do not know what to do at a stop sign. Amazing thing is most (MOST) of the time the car has California plates on it not Mexican Plates. Wonder if California DMV has the stop sign question on their test. And sorry I still disagree with your "that few take care of auto down here".

Became involved in this thread because of well intended suggestions/advice . Individuals that make such ambigious remarks are not the solution to anyone
seeking answers to their insurance concerns .
Any Tom, Dick or Harry or Mary will sell an insurance policy to anyone with money .... Mexico is a different world and I doubt that Columbus, Ohio knows much about the reality of Mexico . I visited mexico mike site , even requested for an on line quote. ( Opinion ) What a bunch of crap ! Should stay with travel and forget insurance and all the other " Hooks ".

Seriously, your attitude stinks! Actually, I did read this entire policy and it covers me 100% in Mexico and also covers my husband who is a MX citizen. I do not have a MX DL but my husband does. He had an accident and the agent came the next day examined the damage to the moto and paid the damages. And no, he didn't have to wait in jail until the agent arrived, but our car did stay in police custody. The company has agent offices all over MX. They would have also paid for the damages to our car, minus the $500USD deductible except the damages were less than the deductible. Oh and guess what, the car has Ohio plates. The company is International Insurance Group--HDI. My first policy with them was for 6 months and I just renewed for a year.

Spent 30 + years in insurance and many , many years trying to figure what egotistical statements such as " it covers me 100%" in USA/Mexico " means or " full coverage " remarks and can assure you by the ambigiousness of your intent you are a joke . " Seriously " , you have no idea what " 100% coverage " is as IT DOES NOT EXIST and it is not offered in any insurance contract. Believe what you want but think twice about passing your beliefs on to others .
I viewed the MexicoMike site referred to as your Authority...................... Joke ( Opinion )
What I do not understand is why my reply to your MexicoMike the Travel Agent , etc does not show in present time on this blog ........!

True and fresh look at transportation but I would add to individual(s) searching for answers to their unique insurance needs that riding a bike/moped in Tijuana is about Life and Health Insurance and that is a whole new Death Wish and not within this 3rd party liability / insurance thread. It is an option ; leave the car(s) in US and sever your dependence on automobiles .....Not likely to happen unless forced to do so , never the less it's a choice even if it is voluntarily putting yourself in harms-way with a bicycle as protection
" Less gas " is a given certainly if pedal powered... Cross the border faster , not sure of because it is widely believed that motorized bikes ( not m/c ) are taken to secondary ; not sure why but have seen it happen . Motor cycles most certainly have the advantage. All the other positives listed are simply , non-existant much like the " 100% / full coverage " .

TJGringo , you could not be further distant from my intent or post ! I did start a seperate thread with desires to expand upon the reality of vehicle claim(s) in Baja, MX but came to realize , based upon post(s) on this thread , that it is a waste of time. I will not argue statements as irresponsible as ; " I have 100% coverage ", I have " full coverage " ( There Is No Such Thing ) .... I Will Argue any brain dead statement that may influence others seeking advice and rely on advice from party that knows Zip , Zero .
My posts in the beginning were about Financial Responsibility in Mexico and were based upon belief that Americans traveling or living in Baja , MX would realize ( HEY WAKE UP ) this is a different world . I have met , face to face , over 30 years of insurance people that have made such stupid statements as presented by c-lo . I reserve the possibility that some individual(s) may know more about life ( Mex ), Vehicle Ownership and Insurance than I .
R-Gary posts offered some very valuable insight on one option . There are many available but unfortunately it is not an easy decision. What is a
" slam dunk " is one should have serious reservacions about buying a F/C insurance policy from a travel agent

But Insurance is like Real Estate Buyer beware.
I gave a guy 1700 yr. for full coverage on two cars.
He disappeared.
I wasn't the only guy at his abandoned office I ran into 3 gringos that had paid and no insurance.
He seemed so nice???
LOL
I wasn't laughing three years ago.
No wrecks so would have been money down the tube anyway.
JM
Before someone asks
The name of the company is Mapfre Tepeyac
It covers you not the car so you only have to pay Once a year and you can drive anything.
But if you have a wife driving USA cars you will need to add her.
