Come on my friend, the city is a shithole. This says nothing of the friendly people who live here. That is why I live here. But come on, look around the next time you go out.

Maybe you have nothing to compare TJ to. Have you been to San Diego? Even other parts of Mexico. The only other place in Mex that I went to that was not a tourist/resort area was Monterrey and the city was very beautiful. I also went to Culiacan and while not as bad a TJ its not that nice. Acapulco and Cancun are nice because they are resort cities.

But come on, Tijuana, WAAACALLAAA.

Felicidades. That didn't seem to take very long. One can't get more centrally located than what you've found.

You are walking distance to just about everything -- the border, centro, Zona Rio, supermarkets, Mercado Hidalgo,
clubs, restaurants, taco joints/stands galore, cafes, coffe shops, auto repair shops, taxis, buses,
Col. Cacho, Blvd. Agua Caliente, Cablemas, Telnor, etc, etc.

It's a good location to get your bearings. Eventually you can learn the other areas to see if they might suit your style better.

I am new to this community but can only speak from my recent experience. I am renting an apartment in Cacho for 700 a month.
It took me a couple of days in and out of a hot sticky taxi cab to find it. I found a place in Cacho for 400 a month but it wasn't big enough for me. Not the greatest apt but in a nice well taken care of building with a very sweet owner who used to live in the States. Her name was Josephine...and I will try to dig up her number for you if you want.

I called Century 21 and they were useless. They are probably most interested in the commissions on house rentals.
The other thing is that I had a hard time finding 1 bedroom apartments and ended up with a 2 bedroom...maybe it was the area I was looking in.
I am sure there is cheaper than 400 a month, I just don't know where. For me, security is an issue which is why I chose Cacho.
Craigslist seems like a rip off. I think the best way is really just to drive around.

My knowledge of TJ is limited thus far, but I know that Coahuila in Zona Norte has cheap hotels (among other things-winkwink). As long as you don't walk around there and take a taxi straight in and straight out of there, you'll be fine.

Well, Maybe I put it the wrong way.. I found a place that I will be at AT LEAST 3 months, and maybe longer... I am happy here for now.. its clean , safe, good neighbors, small complex etc.. I am perfectly ok.. I will not be looking for a while.. especially in zona Norte.. I have no reason Nor need to be there, or look for an apartment.. The place I live Is a regular Apartment, for Perm stay... Its just a little small for my tatste..

Thanks for the response

Maybe this is a stupid question, but the photo before that appeared was that really you!!.  I thought it was you last week when I was Tijuana, I saw a guy on one of the avenidas crossing.  The guy looked like you, but he had a piercing in the upper part of one of his ears.  On that day he was wearing a white shirt with khaki green trousers, and lime green sandals.  Was that you, or maybe I confused you with some one else.  Just want to know!!  Al rato

I don't know I just have this thing for remembering people, numbers.  They stay in my mind all the time.  Well, even though, we didn't
see each other, it was a pleasure to see your backside.   It was a funny moment, because I had just turned on the avenida, when you were going to
cross, I told my husband there goes the Acapulco Gringo.  He gave me this look, who in the hell are you talking about?  I gave him the low down on our tijuana blog community.  He asked me the same thing, how do you know?  I told him he looks familiar, and I have a feeling it is him.

Al rato, I really need to get to work
