I am a frequent customer of Starbucks in Tijuana as it is around the corner from our office. I enjoy the coffee, ambiance and connectivity as well as the central location to be able to meet with friends and associates. To be completely truthful, I have never enjoyed a better cup of coffee than the capuchino Cristina prepares me every day. It is famous among my friends and almost without exception they all ask for one when crossing my front door. Remind me to serve you a cup if you stop by and we'll see if you don't agree...

Before the d'Voladas and Starbucks et al moved in there was the French Pastry on North side of 7th between Revolucion and Constitucion. Decent selection of coffee, I'll be there at noon today.

I've been raving about this place since day 3! They have great pastries that other bakeries don't have. Great coffee and I bought some Quiche last night and it was very good.

You know, I've made it a point to avoid the whole Revo area since moving here years ago. I will admit that you guys are winning me over to some of the gems that I know do exist in the area. My problem is aways figuring out where to park...

A buddy of mine, John Rippo of The Espresso, asked me to write up a tour of coffee houses in Tijuana (and Playas). Anyone want to get together and make the rounds of a half dozen spots? If you have any stellar candidates, let me know. Hmmm, maybe Cafe de Sol is still there???

There are tons of places sprinkled around Tijuana that cater to different tastes. The biggest key is keeping your eyes peeled.

There is a good coffee shop in Plaza Americana Otay called Siglo XX (Siglo Veinte) that has karaoke at night, pool tables upstairs, decks of cards, dominoes, etc. There is also a short order menu with beer included, but coffee is the mainstay. This place is perfect for hanging out with friends or having a formal meeting.

There is a place on 9th street between Centro and Zona Rio where a lot of artists hang out and there are poetry recitals. I can't remember the name of the place, but if you ask around (especially at cultural events) someone will give you good directions and a description of the place.

My best advice is to keep your eyes peeled and note places as you pass them on the road for future reference.

Is there a good place in TJ to get a coffee? Not talking about Sanborn's or even D'Volada. I'm a coffee roaster, have owned/operated coffee shops and am spoiled. :wink:
