In response to Chiquito's question about the shortest route between Cinco y Diez to La Gloria, the following is presented: The main intersection in Cinco y Diez is Diaz Ordaz and Lazaro Cardenas. If you were approaching 5 y 10 going southeast on Diaz Ordaz (which is the extension of Revolution and then Aquas Calientes, becoming Diaz Ordaz in La Mesa) you would turn right on Lazaro Cardenas. Go 3.8 miles until you see a sign with a u-turn symbol saying Rosarito. Take this exit. Then go 1 mile more on this road until the La Gloria exit. Go 1.2 miles more and you reach the center of La Gloria (police station on the right).

I think I should have been more specific and said: Take the La Gloria exit and then go 1.2 miles to the center of town.

In response to tj4rent's question about Crucero Inteligente: If you are going southwest on Lazaro Cardenas from Diaz Ordaz you will notice some construction (actually more than some) about a few hundred yards up the road. I believe that the result of this construction will be a new intersection called Crucero Inteligente. I'm not 100% sure of this, however.

If my memory isn't failing me,
I believe there is are some "backdoor"
ways into La Gloria via Sanchez Taboada
and/ or the maquilas and maybe others as well.
Not sure if they are the shortest though.
Then again, are you sure ? :wink:

At the corner of Gato Bronco and Blvd. Insurgentes is an intersection where two 6 lane roads meet and turn into a 48 lane intersection with the left turn lanes from each of the 4 directions going onto the wrong side of the road to make a left and the ongoing traffic traffic splits each of the 4 directions down the middle.

Reportedly there is at least one accident there every day!

Reportedly there is a serious accident that includes serious bodlily injury every week and at least 12 deaths a year occur in this intersection.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope I can make a relevant contribution from time to time.

I would also like to encourage monthly gettogethers. Like say the first Tuesday of each month at a different restaurant (or maybe the same restaurant). May be hard to do, but probably worth the try. It looks like it has been done before. I would be curious as to how successful it was.
