Can anyone a recommend gym inTijuana? What are the prices like?

There are quite a few.
Bosco's in Centro on Negrete betw 9th and 8th was less that $20/mo with mostly men, but the owner has a women club just a block up across from Panaderia Lobo and the fish store.

A new place opened on Allende in Col. Independencia 3 blocks west of the park on the north side of the street. It's next to the Solo Angeles biker club.
Just take 9th St/Zaragoza one way from Centro up the hill.

Also, an upscale looking place in a huge newer building is in Rio's Sanchez Taboada southest of Gigante a blocks and across the street.

I've seen many more, but haven't asked for prices.

I had belonged to 24 Hour Fitness for years and love using it's various clubs in it's many locations. The easy access to jacuzzis and saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, as well as the equipment I really miss.
Someday, I may breakdown to become a faithful one club user as will likely be required in TJ.

Genesus Gymi in Playas on delPacifico near the bull ring has every imaginable kind of class.equipment and charges 25$ amonth no contract> BVery popular.

Total Fitness in Zona Rio (Sanchez Toabada and Cuahtomec) costs me $66/month. Has a nice restaurant/green bar. I like the facilities and have made some friendships there as well.

What's a gym?

Used to get my exercise by mowing the lawn; cleaning the house and garage; working on my cars; building a back and front concrete patio and roof; not to mention surfing. baseball, football and of course lifting the beer can with my right arm and the cigarette with the left arm.

There are actually 2 waterparks I know of in Tijuana out past Colonia Buena Vista. They are pretty difficult to locate, kind of hidden away on backstreet dirt roads. I found them while browsing around on google earth. Saw what looked like a bunch of pools grouped together so drove over and sure enough. I could e-mail you the google earth book mark if you like. I wouldn't know how to give directions unless you know that part of town very very well. Far from centro.

Im in Playas and the gym across from Carls Jr is pretty neat but $100 a month?!?!?! thats nuts!
I mean do u get a DVD player with your membership for this price? GEESH!<jk>
But theres a California gym at the end of Playas PAseo. $20 a month, but no as good, but gets the job done I guess!

I am looking for a lap pool in Playas tho??
Also interested in Latin Dance classes?? Japanese martial arts??

That gym in Zona Rio looks amazing, any info on quality of classes in there?

There's a pool a little ways past the gym at the south end of Paseo Playas, it's enclosed and easy to miss. I don't know how big it is.

There's another gym on Paseo Pacifico by the bullring, mainly weight machines. Also, $20 a month. There's a private health club on Paseo Playas near the bull ring but I don't know much about it. I think the sign says indoor pool.

Aquario across from Carl's Jr. was $70 a month when we checked, I guess they went up.

Yea some1 told me about the pool at the end, and I tried to look for it ....is it like on the water? next to a huge white gated house with a tennis court?
Maybe I didnt go furthur down, or maybe the place was shut down for winter I dont know...
I guess Ill look again tho sometime....enclosed huh?
Aquario is always dead I mean theres barely anyone in there. its really like $200 yearly 1time fee then 100 a month!

The house with the tennis court has a private pool. This one is actually a run down bulding on Paseo Playas with a wall around the pool out back. Go just past the big Corona beer distibutor and it will be on the right side.

Edit: Browsing on google earth I see the house with the private pool and tennis court are on the same block North South wise as the public (pay) pool. The business one is one block to the east. So you were very close,

Total Fitness I went there as well one of the two expensive gyms in tj....Total Fitness has a lap pool for those who like to swim

Oh, that way you? No, just kidding.... Actually, the machine was finally repaired about two weeks ago from (I'm guessing) whenever you were there.

I would try talking with this guy since he's likely to be astute to TJ's martial arts community.

whats up, i am moving down to playas soon, i was thinking of starting a GRACIE JIU JITSU School. most likly under Royce Gracie. I been trianing for about 4 years on and off, i helped trian Royce Gracie, when he fought in K-1 against Akabono. So e-mail me if you would wanting to train.

Any current members belong to Total Fitness or Sports World and care to comment on either place? The previous posts are old. I would like to know if there are bilingual staff working at the gyms so I would not have to struggle with my Spanish if I needed assistance or a trainer.

I am debating to join a gym in TJ or 24 hour Fitness in SD.

If I choose SD, then I have to walk my stuff across the border every day, go through the x-ray line, carry it on the trolley to work out during lunch or after work. For me this seems like a headache.

I run by Total Fitness alot and see they have a $39.99 a month membership they are advertising. I have seen some nice looking senoritas working out in there when passing by the windows which would be a nice plus to make new friends in TJ. I think I would much prefer to work out after work in TJ.

I can get up to $20 reimbursed from monthly membership dues from my employer. So 24 HR would cost me about $15 and Total Fitness $20.

I am not sure how much Sports World is.
