Great place. Went there several months ago with a group of bros and had the Teppenyaki style dinner (like Benihanas) where they seat you around the grill/table and cook while putting on a show when doing so. It was a great time and the food was great. I'll do it again. Maddog

Went here Friday night... We sat at the bar and had a few specialty rolls and some Unagi and I had a couple Saporo beers... nice!

My girlfriend is new to sushi, but she is fast becoming a fan... She half jokingly said she's tired of Mexican food, because she's had it all her life laugh.gif

The sushi chefs were nice, friendly & laughed at my GF's attempt at jokes... as she was struggling with the chopsticks... she tells the chef that hers are "dañado" and the she needed a new pair laugh.gif I thought it was funny, but I'm sure they hear that all the time from newbies... biggrin.gif

I recommend this place over the 2 or 3 others that I have been to...

It's a chain, there is one in Playas as well as a couple other sushi places. As I don't like fish in any form, I haven't been.

Order clownfish and bring your kids. Tell them it's Nemo. That will traumatize them good. (My evil side).

Does going out for sushi and sake cost the same as it does in San Diego? How is the tempura?

Tempura isn't the best I've had but isn't bad... the batter isn't as good as in the states.... the price is right around the same price as you'd find in San Diego for a mid end sushi place....

We went last Saturday & I think the bill was about $350 pesos for two of us... including the sake & a couple of Kirins for me.

Most rolls are around 80 to 100 pesos....so probably a little cheaper than the states TJdave you're right..

Have been eating at the sushi place in the same strip mall as the Blockbuster just a stone's throw from Plaza Rio. Pretty good - pretty much the same as Aki Sushi.

There is a really trendy / modern looking Sushi place right before Chans, La Diferencia, etc. (if you are heading from Plaza Rio) on the right side. Anyone try it?

We tried going there one time, but they said the sushi chef was not in & could't prepare any rolls?!?!? They could only offer us tempura & other "non-sushi" stuff...

We haven't been back.

Woah! That's random. Check it out again. It's really not bad. We go just cos it's close to Blockbuster and end up grabbing a bite just before or after renting some flicks. Don't expect too much - but then again I was never very impressed with any of the sushi restaurants in TJ (maybe because I'm not big on sushi).
