So where are the hot spots to catch a world cup game. I will probably catch part of the Mexico game tomorrow before work, but I want to watch the US on Sat.

well, I don't have the answer but wanted to add that I think it is pretty cool that my school allows the elementary teachers to bring in their TVs and watch the game with their students in the classroom. My husband says he even remembers doing that as a kid.

i got an email from Honk Kong Gent. Club. to watch the games there. But i don't think i would be watchin much of the game.

But there are alot of bars/sports bars along blvd. Agua Caliente, & sanchez Taboada. Pretty much anywhere. Even Mercado Hidalgo. Where there is a will there is a way here in Mexico. Hell someone might even hook up a tv to the car battery and they will be watching the world cup. Trust me, i have seen it happen....

If Mexico is playing soccer then you can catch it at probably at any bar in TJ.

I got to downtown SD around 8am and the RedZone bar at 5th & C was open and there were people in there watching the game. They have the tv's on with the game in the lobby and the cafe at my work.

Bueno Amigo what are you doing getting those e-mails from HK rolleyes.gif HK was better when it was a hole in the wall bar prior to the remodel they did a few years ago IMHO.

Well the Mexico game was on too early. I managed to catch most of it at work. I was talking about the US game at 11:30 on Saturday. I am pretty sure the GF will rule out Hong Kong as an option. Besides, morning shift strippers scare me. laugh.gif

Don't know how i got on their mailing list. I have not been there with the new remodeling they did. But the pictures on their website make it look expensive to be there. Don't know really...

I used to hang out at HK alot pre re-model. I liked the old dingy cramped feel of the old bar. The new HK is more slick club like you would find in Vegas. The mesaros are all sharks so watch your money but that can be said of the chicas as well. I think beer is about 42 pesos, ficha for the chica is probably around 90 pesos. But with the re-model the place is packed and the number one bar in zona norte. Adelitas was left in the dust once HK did the re-model and is a shell of its former self.

If I am in the area I rather hang out in Las Chavelas or Tropical.

i HAVE BEEN to Chavelas. It's like a small hole in the wall, but with everything in it. When i saw the picture of honk kong i thought the same thing. (Vegas). I did not like it.....But i might wander in, and check out a game on the weekend. Just to witness it for myself.....

*Checking calander to see how many days left so wife goes on vacation*

Any games after July 7th, i am good..... wink.gif

They re-modeled Las Chavelas so it looks like a western bar now. The re-model was done earlier this year so check it out.

I watched the game at Tilly's on Rev. There was a big crowd watching the game outside of Plaza Rio.

Tijuana Tilly's always has nice crowds for the games.

With alcohol sales not permitted before 10am most bars chose not to open including HK mentioned above. Tilly's was serving beer, but in a coffee mug. smile.gif

Plaza fiesta bars are always a good place to watch Mexico play. I don't think I have ever watched a US game other than against Mexico.

I watched the last part of the France game at Ocean City Buffet with the family from out of town. The streets were so quiet and empty heading to the restaurant but when we left at around 1:30 or 2:00 pm after the game, everyone and their mother was out on the streets. It was CHAOS and yet so much fun.

Here is some video that my sister took.

Let's hope there is another celebration like this Sunday after the Argentina game, highly unlikely, but lets hope.

I watched the USA game Saturday at SZ maybe 25 people there.

I watched the Mex vs Arg game there as well today. The place was packed. I never have watched a futbol game in Mexico before and it was a blast. Even when they lose it is a party. Got there around 11am and I left at 4pm. I figured after the game everyone would go home but that is when they started the music and everyone went crazy or at least the half of the bar that stayed. Great time.

Thats what I'm talking about!!! We had a huge party here at home but it would be so much fun like you guys that posted to go to a bar or another place out! I LOVE the enthusiasm of Mexican Futbol fans! Too bad Mexico lost ...but no matter the music and partying has not stopped in this neighborhood!... Not as much as when there was still hope for MX.. but loud and strong nonetheless!
